A teenage boy was killed and three other people were injured in a shooting in Southeast D.C. on Sunday morning, police said.

Officers were called about 10:35 a.m. to the 3500 block of Wheeler Road, where they found a 15-year-old boy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, D.C. police said.

The teen was taken to a hospital but life-saving efforts failed, police said. He was identified as Maurice Scott of Southeast D.C.

"I'm still thinking that he might walk through that door," said Scott's mother Monique Scott. "I just want to see him. I just want to hold him and just talk to him one more time."

Maurice Scott had recently finished his freshman year at Somerset Prep in Southeast. His mother said he was an honor roll student, an athlete and he studied video production.

"He always used to kiss me on my forehead in the morning. That's what I'm going to miss the most because I don't get that no more," she said.

Two women and a girl were found at a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries related to the shooting, police said.

Investigators believe a passenger riding in a light-colored, four-door car got out of the vehicle and opened fire with a rifle or a long gun in a parking lot.

Video footage from the scene shows a car pull up into a parking lot, a person emerge and pull out a gun. The teenager is seen standing nearby and being shot.

D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham spoke about the quadruple shooting at the scene later Sunday.
