Police in Charles County are investigating the death of a teenager in Charles County early Saturday morning.
Investigators say that Jerry Adam Gilchrist, 18, of Cheltenham, was pronounced dead at Civista Medical Center in La Plata after suffering apparent blunt force trauma.
Friends told police that Gilchrist had gotten into an altercation at a party in the 4800 block of Mason Springs Road in Indian Head. Police had been called to that party shortly before 3 a.m. for a report of shots fired, but left after failing to find any shooting victims.
An autopsy has been scheduled and an investigation is ongoing.
