Severe Storms Possible in DC Area Wednesday

Severe storms could move into the D.C. area just in time for your trip back home Wednesday evening.

Wednesday will be mostly dry, but Storm Team4 says thunderstorms will move into the D.C. metro area between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Storm Team4 has declared Wednesday a Weather Alert Day.

We'll see a gradual increase in cloud cover through the afternoon as a cold front approaches the region, bringing a chance for some showers and some thunderstorms to our region, moving in from the west. The storms could bring heavy downpours and damaging winds.

A few showers will linger overnight, with some drizzle and fog early Thursday morning. Temperatures will fall overnight, and much of Thursday will be in the 60s and cloudy. More rain showers will move in for the second part of Thursday.

We will see some showers overnight Thursday into Friday. Some rain could be moderate at times. We'll gradually dry out through Friday afternoon and may even see a few pops of sunshine late in the day on Friday.

Expect clearing conditions through Saturday with temperatures this weekend in the 70s, seasonable for this time of year.
