Senior Citizen Sexual Assault Culprit May Be Back

Man targeted senior citizens more than a year ago

The man believed to be behind three high-profile sexual assaults more than a year ago may be back at it.

Women in several Montgomery County neighborhoods are being warned to take precautions after a new series of break-ins and assaults.

A man sexually assaulted a 68-year-old woman in her home in Germantown, Md., in June 2010. About two months later, an 86-year-old woman was sexually assaulted across the street at the Churchill Senior Living Center. Then in January 2011, the 68-year-old woman was sexually assaulted again.

“I am determined to do everything I can to see that this arrogant little twerp doesn’t get away with it,” said the woman who was attacked twice.

Police believe the same man is responsible for those three sexual assaults, maybe as well as some more recent break-ins.

On Aug. 28, 2011, a man broke in to a 37-year-old woman’s apartment in the 900 block of Clopper Road in Gaithersburg.

On Sept. 5, a 50-year-old woman woke up about 4 a.m. to find a man with a knife inside her home in the 18100 block of Metz Drive. After the woman was cut in a confrontation, the man fled.

Then Saturday, a woman reported a suspicious man looking into a first-floor apartment in the 15600 block of Marathon Circle. Police believe that could have been a prelude to another attack.

“The things that are the same are it’s happening at night, it’s happening in the same geographical area, it’s also happening where there are single females home alone,” said Paul Starks, of Montgomery County police.
