Man Dies in Anne Arundel Boat Accident

Three were on board capsized boat

One man is dead and another is still missing after a boat capsized off the coast of Sandy Point Saturday afternoon.

The U.S. Coast Guard announced on Sunday afternoon that it had suspended the search for the 25-year-old man after searching a total of 62 square miles over the previous 24 hours. Crews from the Coast Guard, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Maryland State Police, Anne Arundel County Fire Department and Queen Anne's County conducted the search.

Earlier Sunday, Maryland Natural Resources Police say that a 40-year-old man died after being taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Authorities say the men were on a sailboat with another passenger when it capsized. Rescue crews responded at around 2:30 p.m., after receiving a 911 call that the boat was taking on water.

The boat's other passenger, a 25-year-old woman, was treated at the scene for hypothermia. The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification of families.

Emergency crews say all three people on the boat were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident. It is unclear what caused the boat to capsize.
