Rookie D.C. Firefighter Oshane Roland Jones Arrested on Gun Charges: PD

A rookie D.C. firefighter has been arrested on gun charges, according to charging documents.

A Prince George's County Police officer spotted 21-year-old Oshane Roland Jones' car illegally parked in a handicap parking spot on Kenilworth Avenue in Capitol Heights Sunday night. Police say the car was also parked partially on the sidewalk.

Police say the officer found Jones and two other men in the car and detected a strong odor of marijuana. When the officer approached the men, he saw an ammunition clip for a gun.

A search of the car found two Glock 23 .40 caliber handguns and a small amount of marijuana, the charging documents state. Police also found ski masks, latex gloves and extra ammunition in the car.

A spokesperson for the D.C. Fire Department told News4 that they are aware of the charges, and Jones has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Because Jones is still on probation as a firefighter, the chief can fire him if he’s found guilty.
