Around 6:47am, DC Fire and EMS responded to a roof fire at the State Department building at 23rd and C St. in the Northwest.
When crews arrived, they found fire and smoke coming from the roof. Investigators said the fire started from a small trash fire.
Five workers were treated for smoke inhalation, and one person was transported to George Washington University Hospital.
No major damage was reported. Fire crews were able to put the blaze out quickly.
