Naked Man Breaches Security at DHS, NBC in Northwest DC

NBC employee bitten while restraining suspect

An American University student ran naked down Nebraska Avenue in northwest D.C. and jumped fences onto the Department of Homeland Security campus and on to NBC4’s campus Saturday night, DHS and D.C. Fire and EMS confirmed.

It was the third breach of security at DHS facility in the past seven months.

Saturday’s breach happened after 10 p.m., when the unarmed man made it onto the secured federal campus. He then climbed another fence onto NBC4’s campus neighboring DHS.

Mark Baker, 20, overpowered an NBC security guard and gained access to the NBC building, where he attacked and bit an NBC employee who intervened to restrain him until police arrived.

He was arrested and charged with assault and unlawful entry. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 27.

News4 has not been able to reach Baker for comment.

Last summer, the News4 I-Team reported two incidents of DHS employees caught with unauthorized guns in the facility.
