Missing Mutt Turns Up at Dulles

Rocky took a quick detour.

At Dulles International Airport on Saturday, it really was a dog-gone mystery.

Airport officials say a mixed-breed dog, possibly a male and answering to Rocky, had been put into crate and was supposed to be loaded onto a South African Airlines flight bound for Johannesburg.

But when crews went to put Rocky on the plane he was nowhere to be found.

That sent airport employee scrambling to find the dog.

For more than two hours, those on the hunt searched high and low until, about two hours after Rocky had been reported missing, they found him in a remote section of the airport, said Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokeswoman Courtney Mickalonis.

After being scooped up, Rocky was loaded back into his crate, loaded onto the plane, and is now on his way home.
