A construction worker died after he was run over by a piece of equipment near New Market, Md., according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
David Garcia, 37, was pronounced dead at Shock Trauma in Baltimore shortly before 12:30 p.m. Monday, Cpl. Scott Blundell said.
Garcia was working for New Market-based contractor Harland J. Shoemaker and Son Inc. when he was run over by a skid loader Monday morning at the company's headquarters, Blundell said.
A skid loader is a relatively small vehicle, such as a Bobcat, that can be fitted with attachments for grading or lifting.
The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health agency is investigating the incident as a workplace accident, Blundell said.
