Note Left at Scene of Vandalism Similar to Threatening Letters, Police Say

Note "similar in content" to threatening letters left at 10 other homes, authorities say

Manassas Police are working to determine if a note left at a vandalized home is connected to a series of threatening letters left in nearby neighborhoods.

The latest incident happened Friday night at a home in the 8500 block of Braxted Lane. A resident of the home discovered that a glass storm door was shattered when he came home at 11 p.m.

A note left at the scene is "similar in content" to threatening letters left at 10 other homes since Dec. 4, although this one didn't mention violence, authorities say,

The other notes were left at homes in the Sumner Lake and Byrd Park areas. Each time, the suspect either hit the door with an object or rang the bell several times and left behind a hand-written note before fleeing.

All incidents occurred between 7:30 and 11 p.m.

Although the notes all contained the name and address of a man who lives in the Manassas area of Prince William County, that man has been determined to have no connection to the homes where the notes were left, authorities say.

Witnesses saw a man running from the area of two of the previous incidents. Police are asking anybody with information to call the 703-257-8092, or leave an anonymous tip line at 703-330-0330.
