A young man was shot Wednesday afternoon in the 1500 block of 7th street in northwest D.C., News4's Jackie Bensen reported.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. His condition is unknown.
The victim, who observers said appeared to be in his teens or early 20s, was shot at about 5 p.m. He fell to the ground in front of Bread for the City, a D.C. charity. That's near the Kennedy recreational center and just a few blocks north of the Mount Vernon square metro station.
There is a barbershop in that block as well, and police kept patrons of the shop inside during part of the investigation, releasing them later Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses tell News 4 that the victim’s mother went with him inside the ambulance.
There is no word on a suspect or suspects, or on a motive.
