A 25-year-old man was killed in a shooting in Northeast Washington early Thursday morning in the city's 100th homicide of the year.
The shooting happened just after midnight in the 600 block of Evarts Street NE.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police have identified him as Travis Barksdale of Northeast D.C.
Police say four men in dark clothing were seen leaving the scene. No arrests have been made.
At this time last year, there were 73 homicides in the District. Barksdale marks the 100th homicide this year, and many of the victims were young.
"Trying to learn how to go on with life without Makiyah," said Donnetta Wilson, mother of 10-year-old homicide victim Makiyah Wilson, who was shot outside her home July 16. She was on her way to get ice cream.

Robert Arthur's son, who was a senior in high school, was killed in Northeast Washington last September.
"It's rough when you lose your child to the streets when he's not that kind of kid," he said.
Mayor Muriel Bowser and D.C. Council members say they are doing what the can to curb the violence.
"We've worked really hard with the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement to bring resources to the areas where we've seen some of the highest rates of gun violence," Ward 5 council member Kenyan McDuffie said.
