Man Killed During Robbery Attempt in Anne Arundel Co.

A Baltimore father responding to a Craigslist ad for a vehicle for sale was lured to a parking lot and killed in a robbery attempt, say Anne Arundel County Police.

Rene Filsfdelfo Leiva-Archila, 44, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot in the 7400 block of Railroad Avenue in Harmans, Md., at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say this was a targeted incident, and they believe Leiva-Archila and the shooter, along with Leiva Archila's son, met up in the parking lot. Leiva-Achila went to the parking lot, a neutral spot, with intentions to buy a $1,700 car he found on Craigslist.

"At first Rene and his son thought the other guy was looking for paperwork for the car and suddenly he put a mask on and a black vest, and got a gun," a man who wanted his identity hidden told Baltimore station WBAL Friday night.

Leiva-Archila was shot in the upper body and pronounced dead. His son was able to flee the scene safely.

The gunman was wearing a mask, but was described as a white male, 30-40 years old, approximately 5'10" with a medium to heavy build. He had dark hair cut in a crewcut style and had a five o'clock shadow. He left the scene in a mid-sized silver or white mid-size, four-door SUV.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to call police at 410-222-3566.
