Dulles Among Most Expensive Airports in U.S.

Average fares ranked third highest on national transportation survey

Dulles International airport is one of the most expensive airports in the country, according to a report by federal Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

Researchers looked at the price of airline tickets, taxes and fees on domestic round-trip fares at 100 of the nation's largest airports. They wanted to see which airports were the most expensive to fly out of.

Dulles ranked third on the list with fares averaging $474.92. At about $476, Memphis and Cincinnati were the most expensive, ranked first and second respectively.

Ronald Reagan National Airport, another D.C. area hub, was 38th with $386.43 fares.

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport was one of the cheapest. It was ranked 80th with an average fare of $334.31.
