Barking Dog Alerts Owner to Burglars

A barking dog is being credited with helping to nab two burglary suspects early Sunday morning.

Chaska, a 10-year-old labradoodle, started barking around 5 a.m., waking his owner, Andrew Davis. Davis woke up, looked outside his bedroom window and saw a man walking away from his home in northwest Washington to get into a car.

Davis got dressed, called police and followed the car until police stopped the vehicle at MacArthur Boulevard and Foxhall Road. Police arrested a man and a woman inside the vehicle and discovered stolen property from Davis’ house and another home.

Metropolitan police credit Davis for acting quickly and calling 911 right away. Davis is thankful for Chaska’s barking.
