A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Sunday on I-95 in Woodbridge, and southbound lanes were closed for hours, causing a five-mile backup.
The motorcycle and another vehicle crashed at about 7:30 p.m. on southbound I-95 near VA-123/Gordon Boulevard, Virginia State Police said. According to witness statements, police said, the rider of a Suzuki motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic when he collided with a BMW sedan.
The motorcyclist was thrown off the bike and died at the scene. Police are still working to notify his family.
The people in the sedan were not injured.
Police are investigating the crash.
The southbound of I-95 lanes reopened after midnight.
On Saturday, another motorcyclist, plus a passenger, died in Prince William County in a collision with an SUV. Police said 41-year-old James Edward Beach II was driving a motorcycle at a high speed when it struck the SUV in an intersection in Gainesville.
