DC Woman Celebrates 110th Birthday

Woman believed to be oldest in nation's capitol

Not many people get to experience more than 11 decades of living.

Eddye Williams turned 110 years old Monday.

D.C. councilman Harry Thomas Junior joined family, friends at a birthday party at Williams' Northeast home.

Williams is believed to be the oldest woman in the city. At her party, Williams said she feels good and doesn't think about age. She'd rather play her tambourine and write poetry.

But there's another impressive chapter to this story. Just a few years ago, Williams was living at a hospice care center. She recovered, though, and is now living at home with the help of a caregiver.

A happy birthday indeed.
