D.C. Police Make Arrest in October Killing

Southwest man taken into custody after traffic stop

    Police have arrested 43 suspected gang members and seized $23,000 worth of illegal drugs in a citywide gang takedown.

    D.C. Police have arrested a Southwest man and charged him with the killing of a Southeast man last October.

    Investigators say that 21-year-old Demonte Michael Chappelle was arrested following a traffic stop early Saturday morning and charged with Murder Two While Armed in the death of 26-year-old Stevann Moorer this past October 27.

    Moorer was found in the 500 block of Parkland Place, Southeast shortly after 9:00 p.m. that night. He was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

    Police have not disclosed what the motive for the shooting may have been.
