D.C. Florist Prepares for Canonization Mass

D.C. floral shop Palace Florists is busy preparing for a very special job: The papal Mass on Wednesday.

The 72-year-old floral shop, located in Dupont Circle, is providing the flowers that will be used during Pope Francis’ Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Pope Francis will canonize Junipero Serra, a Franciscan friar who started missions in California.

Palace Florists also prepared the flowers for Pope Benedict’s visit to D.C. in 2008.

“We’re incredibly honored to provide the flowers for the Holy Father’s visit,” said the store’s president, Lee Herman. “Papal visits don’t happen often, and it is very special to be a part of the historical day.”
