Construction Continues on I-95 During Morning Rush Hour

VDOT apologizes

The Virginia Department of Transportation's overnight construction work has been extended into the Wednesday morning rush hour.

Traffic flow will be restricted on northbound I95 near Prince William Parkway until 8 a.m.

VDOT spokesperson Joan Morris said the crew working on the emergency paving overnight did not complete its work before the start of Wednesday's rush hour.  The crew was attempting to put an emergency patch on the roadway, but the paving work failed.

At 6 a.m., only the left lane of traffic was getting by.  VDOT will open the right shoulder to traffic flow, and has lifted HOV restrictions in the area.
