Arrest Made in Christmas Day Triple Shooting

Suspect caught just blocks away from the shooting scene

Neighbors who live on the D.C. block where a deadly triple shooting happened on Christmas morning are breathing easier after police announced an arrest in the case.   The shooting suspect was still in the area when they caught him, police said.

Marlo Antonio Garcias, 20, was taken into custody Sunday morning just three blocks from the shooting scene. He didn’t put up any resistance when the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force found him, officials said.

Police worked with the community to make the arrest within 48 hours of the shooting.  Garcias is charged with first degree murder in the death of Miguel Romero, 21.

The shooting happened at 5 a.m. Friday after a fight broke out during a party in a rowhouse in the 5400 block of Fourth Street NW.

Another man and a woman were also shot and are expected to survive.  Police have not said what the argument was about.
