Boy Who Survived 11-Story Fall Celebrates 3rd Birthday With Takoma Park Officer

A little boy who fell out of an 11th floor window in Takoma Park, Maryland, last month is celebrating his third birthday and recovering well, police say.

The toddler landed in a pile of bushes and mulch at the Park Ritchie apartments at 7600 Maple Avenue on Sept. 9, which helped break his fall.

He was in critical condition, but Takoma Park police tweeted Tuesday he has been released from the hospital and is back home with his family.

"Remember the toddler who fell 11 stories on Maple Ave? He celebrated his 3rd bday today with one of our first responders, Sgt. Williams, & other team members. He is home w/his family & they say he is doing great. They thank everyone for their well wishes! Happy Bday, young man!," the department tweeted.

The boy had woken from an afternoon nap, gotten onto a night stand next to an open window and pushed open the screen before the fall, police previously said.
