An 8-month-old baby boy has died Thursday after a dog attacked him, police in Calvert County, Maryland say.
A family friend was watching the baby at a residence on Prancer Court in Lusby about 1 p.m. when the family's dog attacked the baby, police said.
Deputies with the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded and saw the dog attacking the baby. The deputies shot the dog to stop the attack and saw the baby died as a result of the attack, the sheriff's office said.
It is not known if the dog died.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
No further information was immediately available.
