Raheem Jones Arrested in D.C. Mom's Shooting Death

Police have arrested a man they say killed a D.C. woman whose two children were home during the shooting earlier this month.

Deandria M. Conyers, 27, was found dead just before 9 p.m. Sept. 14 inside her Southeast apartment by her grandfather. Two of her four children were home when she was shot to death. They were uninjured.

"I was in total shock," said Conyers' grandfather, Michael Conyers. "I was hysterical. I could not call 911 fast enough."

Family and friends told News4 that Conyers had just moved into her apartment in the 2000 block of Ridgecrest Court SE. There was no sign of forced entry.

Her grandfather said she would feed and shelter people who she didn't know well -- something he thinks may have led to her death.

"The monster that did it ... needs to be caught," Michael Conyers said.

Wednesday, D.C. police announced they arrested 33-year-old Raheem Jones of Northeast in Conyers' death.
