A train carrying almost 400 passenger has become disabled outside of Washington, but the air-conditioning is functioning properly, Amtrak said.
A spokeswoman said the Northeast Regional train from Washington to Springfield, Mass., became disabled because of a locomotive failure near New Carrollton about 3:30 p.m. Friday. It has 387 passengers on board.
The spokeswoman said a rescue engine will tow the train to Philadelphia, where the engine will be swapped and the train will continue on its route.
