Man Robs Bank, Hails Cab

Suspect arrested in Adams Morgan after holding up bank on K Street

WASHINGTON -- Police arrested 43-year-old Francis Clifton Marshall Tuesday after, they said, he robbed a bank in Northwest and then caught a cab to Adams Morgan.

Marshall walked into the PNC Bank in the 1400 block of K Street NW about 9:30 a.m., according to police. He passed a threatening note to the teller, saying he wanted money and had a bomb. After he had the cash, officers said, he left the bank and hopped into a taxi.

A short time later, Marshall was apprehended in Adams Morgan near 14th and Euclid streets.

He was charged with bank robbery and probation violation. Marshall is due to be arraigned Wednesday at the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
