A 81-year-old woman died Tuesday after being hit by a car in her own driveway.
Just before 11 a.m., McLean resident Beverly Sargent was preparing to bring her car to a mechanic. She'd arranged for someone to follow her and give her a ride home. As she walked around her car to make sure the other driver -- an 86-year-old man -- was behind her, his car rolled forward.
Police say he was unable to stop it in time, and Sargent was hit.
Sargent was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 3 p.m.
