8 Shot, 3 Stabbed in Violent Fourth of July Night in DC

Eight people were shot and three were stabbed in multiple incidents during a violent Fourth of July night in the District.

There were three confirmed shooting incidents and one stabbing in the District starting at 11 p.m. Wednesday. Two triple shootings happened within a block of each other.

In one case, three people were shot in the 500 block of Malcolm X Avenue SE. One man was unconscious and not breathing when he was taken to a hospital. Another man was conscious and breathing when transported, and a woman was grazed by a bullet.

Another three people were shot in the 500 block of Newcomb Street NE, leaving one man unconscious and not breathing when he was taken to a hospital. Another man had a graze wound to the chest and a woman was reported to be conscious and breathing.

Two other people, including a juvenile male, were shot shortly after midnight in the 1100 block of 48th Place NE. The other victim, a woman, was found about two blocks away. Both were conscious and breathing.

Three other victims were stabbed in the 4500 block of Benning Road NE. All three men were conscious and breathing. An arrest was made in that case.

In an unrelated incident, a woman on 4th Street SE thought she had been shot, but her injury turned out to be related to fireworks.
