Three male firefighters have been placed on administrative assignment, following an alleged sexual assault of their female co-worker, according to officials.
The woman claims she felt an unknown suspect touch her inner thigh while she was sleeping at a fire station on M Street NW last week.
The Firefighters' Union which represents both the accused and the accuser, released the following statement:
“We are watching the situation closely and are concerned any time there are such allegations. Local 36 represents all firefighters and urges the department to conduct a thorough investigation in a timely manner that is fair to all.”
The men have not been identified or charged. They have been placed on administrative assignments pending the outcome of the investigation.
"I will need some answers about exactly what happened, because every employee must be safe that works for the District of Columbia," Councilman Tommy Wells told News4.
