150 Robins Killed in Pikesville; Police Search for Poacher

Police are searching for the person who killed 150 American robins in Pikesville, Maryland, last month.

The birds were killed sometime around Sept. 29, Maryland Natural Resources Police said Wednesday. Police believe the illegal hunt happened in the evening.

Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson says the birds were discovered by employees outside an office building.

Thomson said a necropsy revealed that the birds had been shot. Thomson says this is a pretty unusual case that took someone some time to do.

Robins are protected under state and federal law.

Anyone with information that can help police is asked to call 410-260-8888.
