1 Injured After Stove Causes Flash Fire at American University

One person was injured Thursday morning after a stove they were trying to light inside an American University kitchen caused a small flash fire.

The fire started inside a kitchen in the Mary Graydon Center, fire officials say.

The Mary Graydon Center houses the University Center and the School of Communication, according to the university's website. It also houses several dining options.

A man was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for possible burns. It's not clear if the victim was the same person who tried to light the stove.

The fire has been extinguished, and there is no damage, officials say.
