Mother Killed, 4-Year-Old Daughter Hurt After Head-On Crash in Loudoun County

A mother died and her 4-year-old daughter is seriously hurt after a driver crashed into their car head-on in Loudoun County early Wednesday.

Ammie K. Cho was killed by the crash on Belmont Ridge Road near Legacy Park Drive in Brambleton, Virginia, state police said. She was 34.

Cho's 4-year-old daughter, who was in a child safety seat, was rushed to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Cho was driving a 2013 Subaru north on Belmont Ridge Road at about 7:20 a.m. when a southbound 2012 Volkswagen being driven by an 18-year-old man crossed the median, police said.

The 18-year-old — who police did not identify — ran off the left side of the road, went over the curb and median, and slammed into the Subaru. Chopper4 footage shows the devastating wreckage.

Charges against the 18-year-old are pending, state police said. He also was hospitalized for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash site is about 10 miles northwest of Washington Dulles International Airport.
