    1 Dead in I-66 Crash in Fairfax County

    One person was confirmed dead early Thursday after a crash on Interstate 66 in Northern Virginia, state police said. (Published Thursday, April 19, 2018)

    A woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 66 in northern Virginia early Thursday morning, state police said.

    A westbound 2015 Hyundai Elantra rearended a 2012 Honda Civic east of Exit 57 in Fairfax County about 3:50 a.m., police said.

    The driver of the Civic, 26-year-old Lesly R. Coronado of Falls Church, was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, police said.

    The 29-year-old Manassas woman driving the Elantra was not injured, police said. She was wearing a seat belt.

    A serious crash closed the westbound lanes of Interstate 66 at VA-123 in Fairfax County. News4's Justin Finch reports. UPDATE: There is one confirmed fatality, police said shortly after 7 a.m.

    Westbound I-66 was diverted to VA-123. 

    The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
