When Sidwell Friends’ boys basketball fans found their team losing at home to Maret on Saturday, they turned to another victory and began chanting “O-ba-ma!” over and over, Maret parents told Washington City Paper.
The chant referred to the future first family’s decision to send daughters Malia and Sasha to Sidwell. Maret reportedly was the other finalist.
Maret parents said they found the chant insulting.
To make matters worse for Maret, Sidwell rallied for a 47-46 victory.
A rematch at Maret is scheduled for Friday night.
