School Crossing Guard Among 2 Found Dead in Montgomery County Home

A school crossing guard has been identified as one of the two people found dead after an apparent murder-suicide inside a Montgomery County home over the weekend, police say.

The circumstances surrounding the shootings remain under investigation, Montgomery County police said Monday.

Authorities identified the two as 53-year-old Bonny Jean Dibble and 56-year-old Stuart Michael Shamberger.

Police said Dibble and Shamberger were in a relationship and lived together on Peach Orchard Road, in the Spencerville area. They were found dead in their home about 8 p.m. Saturday.

A gun was found at the scene.

Dibble was a crossing guard for 17 years. She worked at Charles Drew Elementary School and Briggs Chaney Middle School in Silver Spring.

Police say they are investigating the deaths as a domestic-related murder-suicide. Information was not released immediately on who police believe was the shooter.

No one else was injured, and police said there was no threat to the public.
