Rap star Coolio was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday morning, according to LAX officials.
Coolio, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey, Jr., was taken into custody at 10:38 a.m. in Terminal 1 on suspicion of possession of an illegal substance.
The 45-year-old rapper was taken to the Los Angeles Police Department's Van Nuys Station for booking, according to Los Angeles World Airports.
A representative with LAWA declined to elaborate on what "illegal substance" was allegedly involved. TMZ.com reported that the rapper was arrested for alleged possession of crack cocaine, and that he "got physical with the screener at some point during the incident."
Coolio has sold more than 30 million records globally, according to his website. Some of his biggest songs include "Gangsta's Paradise," "Fantastic Voyage" and "1, 2, 3, 4 (Sumpin' New)."
