Haynesworth Suspension

In a statement accompanying yesterday's news that the Redskins would suspend disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth for the remainder of the season without pay, coach Mike Shanahan was respectful, even regretful. "I believe the situation has reached the point where the club clearly has no alternative," he said.

Talking to the Washington Post last night, Shanahan, known increasingly for his uncompromising coaching style, got a little more real. "Let's be honest," he said. "This is an easy decision. This isn't even hard. When I get rid of a guy, I do it because it's in the best interest of the team, and I consider everybody." No love lost, apparently.
