
The culinary profile of Arlington’s Ballston neighborhood has seen steady growth in recent years, as Mike Isabella’s Kapnos Taverna, Spanish favorite SER and Robert Wiedmaier’s Mussel Bar & Grille have all opened to some acclaim.
And while Northern Virginia favorite Cheestique recently debuted in the neighborhood, it’s two steps back for Ballston’s gourmet designation with news like this: Applebee’s is setting up in between all these eateries.
The Kansas City-based chain is opening an “urban-focused design” at 900 N. Glebe Road in a space previously occupied by The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille, according to Arlington Magazine.
Why Ballston?
“The location was very attractive [to Applebee’s] for a number of reasons,” Applebee’s spokesperson Steve Coe told the magazine. “There are lot of millennials in the area, and it’s an area that has a lot of office buildings as well as residential.
