Victims of Richmond Fatal House Fire Identified

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The child and two women who were killed in a Richmond house fire have been identified.

Media outlets report that 61-year-old Rosa Fowlkes, Ariel Hubbard, whose age hasn’t been specified, and her son 5-year-old Josiah Hubbard died Wednesday in the fire.

Richmond Fire Department Lt. Chris Armstrong says the fire was reported shortly before 6:30 a.m. Responders pulled the victims from the house and tried to revive them at the scene and on the way to the hospital, but the attempts were unsuccessful.

Fowlkes’ husband also lives at the home, but was at dialysis treatment at the time of the fire.

The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes. Fire marshals are investigating how it started.

Armstrong says autopsies will be conducted on the victims’ bodies to determine the exact cause of death.
