State Agency, Northrop Grumman Settle Access to Data Center

LEBANON, Va. (AP) — The Virginia Information Technologies Agency and Northrop Grumman have settled a legal dispute out of court involving access to a data center in southwest Virginia.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports the state agency confirmed on Thursday it had reached an agreement with the defense company to allow a repair team to access the Southwestern Enterprise Solutions Center in Lebanon to replace a disaster recovery system that is crucial to operations at several state agencies.

The agreement allows both parties to avoid a hearing that had been scheduled for Friday in Richmond Circuit Court.

VITA spokeswoman Marcella Williamson says VITA will coordinate with IBM technicians to re-establish critical disaster recovery capabilities for the agencies that use the data center’s mainframe.

Northrop Grumman wasn’t prepared to comment for the Times-Dispatch on Thursday.
