Police: Woman Hit, Killed Crossing Highway After Crash

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Authorities say a Roanoke woman was hit and killed when she tried to cross a highway after a crash.

Virginia State Police said in a statement that a Chevrolet Malibu crashed into the jersey wall on the left side of Interstate 581 in Roanoke on Wednesday night.

Police say the driver, 44-year-old Lori Diane Alls, was not injured in the crash, but when she tried to cross to the right side of the highway, she was hit by another vehicle, which fled. Alls died at the scene.

Police say evidence at the scene suggests the vehicle that hit Alls was a passenger car, small truck or SUV with damage to the right front and mirror.
