BEL AIR, Md. (AP) — Police say officers responding to a suicide threat at a home in Maryland found a woman dead of blunt force trauma and a 16-year-old with self-inflicted wounds.
Maj. William Davis of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office says officers were called to the home in Bel Air around 6:30 Thursday morning.
Davis says the officers found a deceased 56-year-old woman who had apparently been hit with a hammer. The teenager was in a bedroom and initially refused to respond.
He was eventually taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment of “multiple” self-inflicted wounds that were not considered life-threatening.
Davis declined to say whether the teenager was suspected in the woman’s death and said no charges have been filed. An investigation is ongoing.
