No Charges Filed Against Officers Who Fatally Shot Man, Son

BALTIMORE (AP) — Prosecutors have declined to bring charges against two Baltimore police officers who shot and killed a man and his adult son as they aimed guns at people across a street.

The Police Department’s website shows that the state’s attorney’s office declined to bring charges in the March 31 incident.

The Baltimore Sun reported (http://bsun.md/2eCTa4b) on Tuesday that the decision was made Sept. 23.

Police say Officer Norman Jones and Sgt. Joseph Wiczulis were on patrol in an unmarked car when two men armed with guns got out of a vehicle. Believing the men were going to shoot a group of people, the officers opened fire.

Forty-three-year-old Matthew Wood Jr. and his 18-year-old son, Kimani Johnson, were killed.

Police said Wood and Johnson were black; Jones is black and Wiczulis is white.
