Downtown Silver Spring Gets More Luxury Rentals

WASHINGTON — Central, a 243-unit luxury apartment building in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, began leasing this month.

Studios start at around $1,750 a month, and two-bedroom apartments rent for as much as $2,700 a month.

The six-story building is at 8455 Fenton St., about two blocks from the AFI Silver Theatre and across the street from Whole Foods and the new Silver Spring library. The Silver Spring Metro is within walking distance.

Central has all the prerequisite amenities luxury apartment and condo developers are baking into their new D.C.-area projects, including a pool, lounge, 24-hour fitness center, pet spa, library, outdoor terraces and a 24/7 concierge.

“In the past few years this area has stepped out of Washington, D.C.’s shadow and grown into a hot spot of entertainment, music dining and retail — so we seized an opportunity to create an active and exciting residential offering to complement it,” said Jon Carr, senior vice president of development for developer Grosvenor Americas’ D.C. office.

Central also has room for 15,000 square feet of ground level retail. Tenants already signed on and set to open early next year include Pure Barre and Orangetheory Fitness.
