Access Exclusive: Howie Mandel Clears The Air On Heart Attack Rumors

Howie Mandel is speaking out after his health scare in Toronto, clearing the air about rumors he suffered a heart attack.

While filming his new show, “Howie Do It,” in Toronto, Howie had a random check up for insurance purposes. An EKG showed the TV host had an irregular heartbeat and the doctor said that the problem could be corrected to get the heart back to a regular rhythm.

“They put you totally out and they take those defibrillators and they yell ‘Clear!’” Howie said in an interview for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show” on Thursday. “They shock you and your heart goes back to a normal rhythm.”

Howie was advised not to eat before the procedure and once it was done, Howie said he was in the elevator at his hotel and felt a little dizzy.

“I got dizzy at the elevator and I must have passed out because I woke up in a gurney in an ambulance on the way back to the hotel,” he told Billy. “[The doctors] said my heart is strong and I did not have an attack.”

Howie was kept overnight for observation at the hospital and released the next day.

When Billy asked if Howie was scared, he said, “I was terrified because I try to stay healthy, I work out, I eat well and to be in a public lobby of a hotel and start to feel dizzy and then have no memory after that and to wake up in an ambulance is terrifying.”
