12/12: TextUAlive Rocks Busboys

Plus, the Christmas Movie Festival and Mount Vernon by Candlelight

STAY SAFE: Hit up a campaign launch event for TextUAlive, which includes live music from Hidden Beach recording artist Jeff Bradshaw, Strathmore resident artist the Green Violinist, and urban/soul artist Carolyn Malachi. It's happening at Busboys & Poets (5th and K streets N.W.). TextUAlive's goal is to end distracted driving and reinforces safe driving habits. 6 p.m.; $10 cover.

CHRISTMAS ON THE SCREEN: The Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse (2903 Columbia Pike, Arlington) hosts a Christmas Movie Festival. Catch "A Charlie Brown Christmas," "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" "Bad Santa" and more. Pay once and stay for the whole thing, or drop in and out. Noon-11:30 p.m.; $8.

HISTORIC HOLIDAY: Tour Mount Vernon by Candlelight, and enjoy quaintness to the max with fireside caroling, hot cider and ginger cookies. Tours include dancing, period music, and characters from the Washingtons time bringing visitors through the first and second floors. Through 9:30 p.m.; $20.
