O'Malley to Meet With Miller, Busch About Budget

Gov. Martin O'Malley said he plans to meet with the General Assembly's presiding officers to discuss a special session on the budget.

O'Malley said Friday on WBAL Radio that he plans to meet with House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller within the next several days.

He told WBFF-TV that an agreement, as well as trust and understanding, are needed for a special session to occur.

O'Malley said the budget breakdown that happened Monday night when the session adjourned is “something that can be repaired by both of these gentlemen.”

The failure of a budget compromise caused about half a billion dollars in budget cuts to be put in place instead of income tax increases and an alternative cost-savings plan.
