Bryce Harper to Begin Rehab Assignment Monday

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper will begin his rehab assignment Monday with the Single-A Potomac Nationals as he inches closer to a return from a thumb injury.

Harper has been out of action since late April when he underwent surgery for a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. It was expected at the time that Harper, who began taking batting practice last week, would return around July 1.

The plan is for Harper to play in Potomac Monday and Tuesday before taking Wednesday off. The Nationals are on the road all week in Milwaukee and Chicago.
