    The National Weather Service confirmed tornadoes touched down in Virginia and Maryland Friday evening.

    A tornado tore the roof off an apartment building, uprooted trees and ripped off ventilation units and roofing materials at a shopping plaza in Fredericksburg, Va., according to NWS. The tornado traveled about three-quarters of a mile before it dissipated. Winds reached up to 90 mph. No one was injured.

    A tornado with winds up to 85 mph touched down in the Marlboro Ridge subdivision off Ritchie Marlboro Road near Largo about 7:25 p.m., according to NWS. The tornado, which lasted less than a minute, traveled about half a mile before lifting. No one was injured. The winds uprooted trees and damaged three homes.
